Country Life lunch plus Animal Aid Fayre

An excellent turnout for lunch - the only thing missing was the Country Life staff! We were not deterred and fast forwarded ourselves to the Tai. No matter how many we are, 12 in this case, this little restaurant always seems to find a table large enough even at short notice.

Taking the no.10 bus to Kensington High Street gave us plenty of time to view the Christmas lights and hoards of shoppers.

The fayre was our chance to acquire chocolate and presents and more chocolate and to see many friends and acquaintances from the veggie community. A number of Veggiesocials’ members were manning stalls or being contortionists – well done to them!

We met up at 5pm again as planned with others ending with a trip to a local pub.

It was great to see so many new faces. I do hope you enjoyed yourselves and will want to come to other events soon!

Saturday 20th Meal and Meaningful Coincidences

The all you can eat Chinese vegan buffet at Joi was hot, tasty and good value, with lashings of green tea putting us in an affable mood for Spiritual Connections.

There were a surprising number of people at this event which made for a great evening of mingling and making new friends and connections. James and his guitar provided the musical interlude with "Shelving" plus some new songs. I'm looking forward to the Christmas party on the 11th Dec.

Thanks goes to Heather (www.spiritual-connections.co.uk) for this event.

Saturday 16th October Meal and Astrology Evening

Lynne Carter produced a chart and an interpretation for each of us, which was very interesting – apparently I'm going to be a famous author!

We used our newfound knowledge to mix in various different astrologically determined groups (you had to be there) - giving us all the chance to mingle and meet each other.

It became a little confusing towards the end (perhaps it was the beer) and I wasn't sure where my moon was or what Neptune was doing. I asked someone if they were vegetarian and they said "no I'm Cancer
actually"!

Thanks goes to Heather (www.spiritual-connections.co.uk) for this event.

Sunday 12th - London Vegans Country Life meal plus Festival of Life

Great meal with a good turnout - good to see old friends again. The festival had lots of interesting things to try. It was truly amazing what can be done without cooking!

Bedford picnic Sunday 5th September

A surprisingly large number came from many directions and different groups to our rendezvous at the bandstand, an inspired choice as there were interesting performances from various jazz and rock bands.
The very hot weather and find foods made for a very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon. Many thanks to the providers of all the lovely dishes! Thanks Bedford Vegetarians for organising this.

Feel Good Again Show - Saturday August 28th plus all you can eat Indian Buffet meal

Fortune favoured the brave with free entry tickets for all. Some started with Play Kung, the ancient Chinese art of sticking as many balloons as possible to a person, whilst the others learnt how to
Live Inside Out On Purpose. Some of us are now more alluring, have a better body image or are in touch with past lives, and have been healed and cleansed in a multitude of ways! Afterwards the Bhelpoori
house was hot, spicy and filling for £2.95. An amazingly good value day out!

Another day out in Brighton on Saturday 14th August

Praying for good weather does work! Well done one lucky member winning the toy fish on the Dolphin Derby!

Picnic in Hyde Park - Sunday 1st August

A good turnout for this hot day spent munching and relaxing and later boating!

London Vegans Festival, Kensington Town Hall 14th July - Click here for further details.

Leon Lewis food - Cocoa Tree chocolate - many good causes.

A day out in Brighton on Saturday 5th June.

Tthe day was spent eating, shopping and relaxing in one of England's most veggie-friendly towns!

The Feel Good Show plus veggie meal - The Business Design Centre, London - 2nd May 2004

We met a relaxed member enjoying morning tea in the sunshine outside the Hilton. Our group assembled, we entered the imposing and interesting Design Centre. The stalls ranged from the out of the ordinary to the bizarre.

The group participated in different workshops and seminars, each proving interesting and informative in their own way. Two of our number braved the speed-dating. We were impressed by the fact that all the workshops, etc were free. A great day-out and a lot of fun!

Our evening meal was the cheapest yet at £2.95 for an all you can eat Indian buffet! Very hot!

Vitaorganic Restaurant Saturday 27th March 2004

Vitaorganic is a lovely vegan restaurant offering either a buffet with Malaysian/Japanese/Thai dishes or a la carte menus with hot or raw food dishes.

A large group of us filled this little restaurant. The bamboo surroundings, waterfalls and serene music enhanced our eating pleasure. Most of us went for the extensive hot and cold buffet with soups and sweets. VitaOrganic try to use organic produce when possible. All the dishes were vibrant and tasty.

Somehow we managed to spend 3 hours there before moving to enjoy a nightcap at a local hostelry. It was good to see again some folk we hadn't seen for a long time, especially our organisers for this event from London Vegans.

Valentine’s Day 2004

Mixing two different groups is always uncertain but the Spiritual Connections crowd and our group blended like layers in a trifle! The result was an excellent, well balanced turnout filling the cosy private, no-smoking room. A few people felt like absconding at the mention of party games, however we knew it was for our own good! The main game was a famous name stuck to your back - you have to guess with only YES or NO answers. Further entertainment included more games with prizes and James on his guitar with “My mother is an alien” plus other originals. Thanks Heather from Spiritual Connections for organising this.

No embarrassing pictures as I left my camera at home!

Sunday 11th January 2004

A cracking start to the year with around 20 lunching at Country Life with the London Vegans second Sunday drop-in! We will have to pre-warn them next time to make sure they have plenty of everything! A largish group of us moved on to Starbucks for a leisurely coffee (they do soya milk). A medium group moved on to the British Museum to see the Living and Dying exhibit (it was free!). We gazed at the thousands of tablets representing the average person's lifetime consumption, and the colourful Polynesian costumes. Finally, a small group ended up at VitaOrganic in Finchley Road, for an evening meal. Finchley Road is not in Finchley and therefore is nearer Central London than previously thought! VitaOrganic restaurant envelops its customers in bamboo, lanterns, waterfalls and serene music - very pleasant!
